ROANE STATE'S JAZMINE WEST NAMED TCCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Roane State sophomore midfielder Jazmine West has been named the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Week 1, becoming the first player in program history to earn the honor.
West, a graduate of Livingston Academy, played a pivotal role in the Lady Raiders' opening-week performances. She scored two goals in Sunday's matchup against Chattanooga State, helping set the tone for the victory, and anchored the midfield in both contests to open the season.
"She's probably the hardest worker on the team," Roane State head coach Donnie Green said. "She goes the extra mile, and she's such a great leader. In the midfield, she's our anchor—everything runs through her. She sets the tone in games and leads by example."
Green said West's influence extends beyond the stat sheet. "When I talked to the team at halftime, Jazmine was the one who got us going," he said. "She set the example, and all the girls followed. She's a yes-sir, no-sir type of player, always early to practice, always working on her game, and never one to chase accolades. She just wants the team to succeed."
Now in her second season, West has grown into one of the program's top leaders. Already a captain as a freshman, her field vision and understanding of the game continue to develop, making her a central figure in the Raiders' attack.
"This award is special not just for Jazmine, but for our program," Green said. "It shows the hard work she's put in and the strides our team is making. We're so glad she chose Roane State."
With her leadership and consistent performances, West has positioned herself as one of the standout players to watch in the TCCAA this season.
