Andy Baska
Bio
Andy Baska serves as the Cross Country Assistant Coach for the Athletic Department at Roane State Community College. In this role, he supports the head coach in training athletes, developing race strategies, and fostering team performance.
A Farragut High School graduate (2002), Andy was a four-time individual state champion (twice in cross country, once in the 1600m, and once in the 3200m) and contributed to four team state championships (twice in cross country and twice in track). He formerly held school records in cross country (14:43 for 3 miles), the 1600m (4:17), and the 3200m (9:18).
Andy began his collegiate career at Belmont University (Fall 2002–Fall 2003), where he was part of two Atlantic Sun team championships in cross country and earned first-team All-Conference honors twice (7th in 2002 and 2nd in 2003). He also set the freshman school record in the 5000m (14:48). Transferring to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (Spring 2004–2007), he achieved All-Region honors in the NCAA South Region twice (2004 and 2005), qualified for nationals as part of the team (2005, placing 28th), and contributed to the 2007 SEC Track and Field team championship. His collegiate personal records include 1500m (3:50), 3k (8:16), 5k (14:03), and 10k (29:46). He graduated in May 2007 with a degree in Exercise Science. Andy later earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in May 2013.
Post-collegiately, Andy placed as runner-up in the Knoxville Half Marathon (2009, 1:08:00) and the Knoxville Marathon (2010, 2:23:58). His personal records in road racing include 5k (14:41), 8k (24:17), 10k (30:42), half marathon (1:07:25), and marathon (2:23:58).
